Songs, Sounds and Experiments
Studio 714 is my (bedroom) home studio, where I write, produce, mix and master my songs with modest yet professional means.
My goal isn’t to build the perfect production setup, but to keep learning and to better understand how music comes together. From the first idea to the final mix. Translating well to Hi-fi sets, mobile phones, tablets/laptops etc.
Today I work with a Digital Audio Workstation (Cubase Pro 14), 2 excellent nearfield audio monitors (Adam A7X), headphones (Sennheiser H650), a digital mixer (Behringer XR18), a whole bunch of licensed and free virtual instruments, one great microphone (Rode NT1), a few acoustic and electric (bass)guitars and everything I discover along the way. I also performed some simple room acoustics treatment.
Every single improvement of skill, gear, room is valuable. We all have our own ways. Just start, learn and have fun!

Every production is a snapshot of what I knew, could do, and wanted to explore at that particular moment. Sometimes an idea comes together quickly. Sometimes a production has to start over (and over, and over…)
And during my learning journey I went from making audio cassettes to CD-production to online streaming

Writing, recording, arranging, producing, mixing and mastering all teach me something new. About sound, about music, about technique — but most of all, about what a song actually needs. And what skills and tools Ireally need to get there.
That’s why I started document not only what I make, but also what I learned along the way.
